All
the classes have been working hard on their Liskeard show entries. Preschool,
along with our Playgroup children, will be entering butterflies made of their handprints.
Class 1, inspired by their learning of David Attenborough have made baby
turtles out of egg cartons. Class 2 took what they had learned about Rome and made
Andy Warhol inspired volcanos prints and Class 3 have entered the collage with
a Wild West wanted posters they worked so hard on last term. If you go to the
Liskeard Show on Saturday 12th July, please pop by the exhibition
tent to see the children's hard work.
Class 3 attended the Cornwall School Games held at Liskeard Secondary. Approximately 1,300 children participated in the event and our school took part in three activities: dance, girls football and a swimming and crossfit event.
The children all had a great day and came home with medals - Well done Class 3!
It was another hot day
today when Class 2 held their long-anticipated Sports Day. It's lovely to see
the children supporting each other and cheering for their friends even if they
are on different teams.
The parents tug of war was
fantastic, not competitive at all.
After being rearranged twice due to the weather, it was almost too hot when Class 1 had their Sports Day! The children all did incredibly well and showed great sportsmanship and patience, especially with the pesky egg and spoon race. The Pre-schoolers race was also a delight to watch.
What a day Class 3 had on Friday. Although the weather was overcast with heavy rain at some points they didn't let that dampen their spirits. The sea conditions were perfect with a 4ft - 6ft swell and an inshore wind. Many of the children were able to stand up by the end of the lesson and all of them gained confidence in the water.
Class 2 had a lovely visit to Kents Cavern. The
children spent the day exploring the caves, learning about stalactites and
stalagmites and digging for gemstones. At one point the torches in the cave
were turned off briefly so the children could experience how dark it is at that
depth!
The sun
shone at last and Class 3 were able to hold their sports day. The children all
had a wonderful time and loved the friendly competition with their friends. The
parents tug of war is definitely being done again next year!
Two teams from Duloe had a very early start on Thursday and travelled to Marjons University for the Plymouth Lions Hockey Festival.
The children all played superbly with Duloe B making it to the quarter finals and Duloe A the semi finals. As always I am blown away with the sportsmanship and how the children conduct themselves when we partake in these events.
Mr Hodgins also made us proud by scoring a goal in the 'Goal or No Goal' game in the afternoon - Well done Mr Hodgins!
The Summer Fair on the last day of term was a huge success. A massive thank you to all the PTFA team who
put on a wonderful event! It was a magical way to finish off the term and it
was delightful to see the smiles on the children’s faces.
The
PTFA will be continuing to sell raffle tickets with the winner’s being drawn on
Tuesday 22nd July.
