This week at Duloe we held a Sports Day where children got to participate in a range of fun activities: frisbee golf, target shooting, archery, parachute games, boccia, cross-fit, tag-rugby, table-tennis and gymnastics.
Some of the older children (and staff!) also had an introduction to boxing by a coach from 'Wellbeing Boxing'.
In the afternoon, we were joined by children from Trenode, Polperro, Polruan and Pleynt. Our five schools share a governing body and this is the first event we had put on, so that the children can mix together and have new experiences.
It was an amazing day, filled with smiles and laughter. Hopefully, this will be the first of many similar experiences.
Children from Year 5 and Year 6 competed at the Youth Speaks competition this week, run by Liskeard and Looe rotary. Duloe were represented by four amazing teams, who spoke about a diverse range of subjects including: geothermal energy, Harry Potter, hunting and the Apollo moon landings. The children fully embodied all five of our school’s Christian values. A special thank you to Mrs Currah who has been running our debating club and supported the children with this wonderful experience.
Class 1 led our Christmas service this year, retelling the Nativity. They demonstrated excellent speaking and singing within a packed out St Cubys. This was the culmination of the children's RE lessons for the half-term focusing on the Incarnation.
A huge thank you to all of those who came along to support. The collection for St Cubys reached an amazing £138.
A huge thank you to Mole Valley farmers for donating a Christmas tree to the school this year. It has been adorned with decorations made by every child in the school and is taking pride of place within St Cuby's Christmas tree festival.
Class 3 continued on the school's courageous advocacy of last week's dress as a rainforest animal day to run a bake sale in aid of Operation Ocelot.
The children have now smashed the £148.40 target which means we have saved a piece of the rainforest the same size as our school grounds.
Many of the children are also running stalls for Operation Ocelot on Friday, so we will see how far we can surpass our target. Well done everybody
A huge thank you for your support towards Operation Ocelot
today. £122 has so far been raised. Stan and Emily are well on their way to
hitting their £148.40 target which will save a piece of rainforest the size of
our school grounds. A truly wonderful example of children living all of our
Christian Values.
To further support this cause, class 3 will be holding a
bake sale after school on Tuesday 13th December.
A huge well done to our singers who took part in Bridge Schools inaugural singing festival at Carnglaze Caverns last week. The children sang two wonderful songs and came third in the competition out of the 14 schools. A special thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended to support their children, Mrs Hughes for spending the day ferrying children in the minibus and Mrs Askew for all of her hard work in getting the children prepared for the event.
