A huge well done to our singers who took part in Bridge Schools inaugural singing festival at Carnglaze Caverns last week. The children sang two wonderful songs and came third in the competition out of the 14 schools. A special thank you to all of the parents/carers who attended to support their children, Mrs Hughes for spending the day ferrying children in the minibus and Mrs Askew for all of her hard work in getting the children prepared for the event.
Children from Duloe joined other local schools this week to take part in a workshop with
the classical vocal ensemble ‘The Sixteen’. This was a result of Duloe's ongoing
relationship with the Cornwall Music Service Trust.
Our children thoroughly enjoyed the experience of learning from a professional ensemble to improve their singing technique.

Class 3 and Class 2 enjoyed an educational visit to the Eden Project this week. Class 3 learnt how to survive in the rainforest like the Kombai tribe of Papua and Class 3 learnt about plants as part of their science topic.
The children (and adults) had a fantastic day in this astonishing environment, and it really brought our learning to life.
As always, the children's behaviour was outstanding with members of the public commenting how good they were. They were a credit to the school.
Today, children from Duloe laid a wreath at our local war memorial and held an Armistice service at St Cuby's church.
The children read poems, sang hymns, led prayers, read Bible readings and held a two-minute silence.
The church was also decorated in artwork that children from every class had produced during the week to mark this day of remembrance.
The children were an absolute credit to the school and showed a great deal of respect throughout.
We would like to say thank you to our wonderful community who joined us in church today and especially Revd Ben for his contribution to the service.
Class 2 have been exploring 'Celebrating Difference'. Initially we explored the Disney film Zootropolis. The children were able to make connections between the diversity of animal species living together and how this links to different races in our society. We discussed stereotypes and how they can be damaging and dangerous. Class 2 made links between the main character, Judy, being mocked for aspiring to be a police officer even though she is a 'weak bunny' and prejudice experienced in the world. We discussed injustices linked to race, gender and religion. Finally, Class 2 looked at the adaptations made to the city of Zootropolis that allowed all the animals to live together. Giraffes could access the smoothie stall thanks to a tall tube; lemmings had use of smaller doors on the trains and additional clothes driers were installed for the water dwelling hippos. We discussed adaptions that we use in everyday life and why it is important that we all have the same opportunities. We spoke about what makes us unique and why we should be proud to be a part of our community.
The team at Cornish Orchards kindly invited our Year 6 children for a tour of their farm. After picking apples last half-term, the children saw how they were processed, fermented, bottled and distributed from the warehouse.
It was a fantastic experience for the children (and the staff) to learn about this successful local company. A huge thank you to Jo at Cornish Orchards for organising and all the staff for being so accommodating and sharing their knowledge.
The children really appreciated their soft-drink samples as well!
As part of the culmination of Class 3's enquiry
question: 'Is space the final frontier?' the children enjoyed a Zoom call with astrophysicist,
and publisher of Galaxy - Mapping the Universe, James Geach.
The children learnt what is was like using the Hubble
telescope, what the day in the life of being is professor is like and what
James had to do at school to become an astrophysicist.
It was a hugely inspiring talk and we are
incredibly grateful to James for donating his time for the children’s benefit.
Class 1 had been incredible learners this half-term. They have shown great progress with their reading, especially our Reception children.
They have also taken part in a huge range of learning activities including, apple picking, hockey, map reading, music and building some amazing castles in Design and Technology.
