Collective Worship

All this week, children at Duloe have been learning about positive relationships as part of their PHSE lessons. Class 1 have also been learning about the Enormous Turnip story, so in Collective Worship we combined these parts of our learning and also made the link about our Christian Value of Friendship. At first it was difficult to move the strongest boy in the school, but when Class 1 worked as a team, they moved him easily.

Friendship and compassion is a real strength of the children at Duloe and we are very proud of them for this.

Maths and Writing

This week Class 1 have been measuring and comparing non-standard units and then starting to use cm. They have also been learning the story of the enormous turnip through role play, sequenced the characters and then wrote their own stories.

Three Little Pigs

As part of Class 2's 'Three Little Pigs' writing, we received a letter from the Three Little Pigs asking for help, as they had heard the big bad wolf was on his way to eat them up. They wanted us to make houses for them, so they would be safe. He would arrive before lunchtime, so we had to be quick and we also had to think about how we could wolf proof the house - signs to trick him, decoy houses, traps! We set about making houses, it was very stressful as we didn't have long! Then there was a phone call, the wolf had been spotted in the village! We quickly finished our houses and put the little pigs inside. Then the wolf arrived and tried to huff and puff our houses down

Easter

Nursery have been getting ready for Easter by doing some Easter themed cooking and going on an Easter egg hunt.

Easter Egg Hunt

Class 3 ventured into the local woods for their Easter Egg this year. The children would like to say a huge thank you to the PTFA for supplying a chocolate egg to all of the children in the school!

Nursery

With numbers in our nursery growing from strength to strength, some new toys were in order to help the children learn and have fun. We have purchased a selection of indoor and outdoor equipment for our busy learners to enjoy.

Science

Class 3 have been learning about materials in science and how to classify them. They have learnt new vocabulary and tested out the materials to see how they should be classified.

Physical Education

Well done to the sporting superstars that are the children at Duloe school! The children took part in a range of sporting activities and challenges as part of the Cornwall School Games. Amazingly, we came in bronze position overall, which is fantastic for a school of our size. We also won gold is a few of the activities. We are very proud of all the children who took part!

Art and Design

Class 2 have been learning about relief printing. The children planned a design using our initials in hieroglyphics, making sure it was the correcy size. Then they transferred their design onto foam boards and carefully cut out their 'printing blocks' Next, they used ink and rollers to make a print. The next day, when their prints were dry, they added in detail to their prints by carving bits out of their foam. They found that where they carved, the ink did not transfer to the paper.

Reigious Education - Easter

Class 1 have been learning about Easter, by finding out about religious symbols while making hot cross buns. They also had a lot of fun taking part in the PTFAs Easter egg hunt.
